Summer 2004 Photos

Perry, Ewa, Kornelia, and Erik McKenzie
May 21, 2012

Photos from the Summer of 2005

Continuing with our vacation pictures, Kornelia and I went for a hike just across the road from our cabin, and found a trail that lead to this scenic spot. We came back the next day to explore down at sea level, and the tide was out, and the water was all gone. Nothing like a real life demonstration of what 'tide' is.
I believe this is the same hike - it was a 'board-walk' trail all the way. We enjoyed being in a mature growth forest and seeing bald eagles flying over us all the time.
On a walk through a rainforest (still on the west coast of Vancouver Island) we found this tree. Kornelia and Erik found they fit inside nicely.
Ewa, Kornelia, and Erik are standing infront of the cabin we stayed in while on the west coast. A trail out the back lead right down to an inlet. The kids loved it (so did we) :-).
Having fun playing tag with the water and waves. The kids could have stayed here for hours.
Again, Kornelia and Erik having fun in the water and the sand at the beach. Sometimes we'd see sealions playing in the water in the distance past the surf.
Here we all are at Long Beach, right by the interpretive center (It's not in the picture).
We've done a lot of work around the house this year. Here's Erik sitting by our front walk. We replaced the cement block sidewalk with flat rocks we found not too far from the house. By the way, this was a Mother's Day project. After the rocks were in place, Ewa put down grass seed and presto!
A little closer picture of Erik sitting at the front of the house.
We also painted the fence and the patio, as well as replaced the cement bricks on the ground patio with smaller, more decorative ones. It sure is nice to have all this work done so we can enjoy it a little now.
For Canada Day on July 1st, we went to Canmore (about an hour from our house) and took in the parade. Here you can see the 'Red Surge' (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) started the parade.
Ewa took the kids one day to Calaway Park. They had fun flying on the rides.
Two pilots in waiting.
