Summer 2006 Photos I

Perry, Ewa, Kornelia, and Erik McKenzie

Photos from the Summer of 2006

We took Ewa's parents to Drumheller, Alberta, in between our holidays to Vancouver Island and Radium. Drumheller is in the middle of the Candian Badlands, and has a world class dinosaur museum. In the middle of downtown Drumheller there's the 'largest T-rex in the world'. Get a magnifying glass and you can see me and Kornelia and Erik waving from inside the mouth of this beast.
Just below the dinosaur is a public water park. All of us (except me) ran around in the water to cool off. It was a hot day.
Babcia, Dziadzo, Erik, and Kornelia standing in the water park in Drumheller.
Eight kilometers south of Drumheller are the hoodoos. We stopped here quick to take a couple of pictures and check them out since nobody except me had seen them before. After this I got a bit lost following a map and we extended our trip home by about 200 kilometers. :-S
Erik flashing a pose by the hoodoos.
Kornelia by the hoodoos.
Babcia, Dziadzo, and Erik relaxing in the shade in our front yard. We have wild rabbits that frequent our neighbourhood that often hang out and munch the grass right where everyone is sitting in this picture.
On our way to Radium on our second week of holidays, we fulfilled a family tradition and stopped in Canmore for the Canada Day parade. The weather was great and we got good seats. Everybody had a great time.
You can see here what great seats we had - roadside and a beatiful view of the mountains. Babcia and Dziadzo had never seen a parade like this. Some of the floats and marching bands for the Calgary Stampede come to this parade to warm up, and it's great entertainment for us!
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police started the parade mounted on horses and dressed in their traditional 'Red Surge'.
One of the Calgary Stampede floats that was in the parade. Babcia and Dziadzo loved the horses that were pulling this wagon.
One of several of the bands that marched by us in the parade. The bands were quite large - you couldn't miss them. And of course they're all dressed in matching uniforms. Babcia and Dziadzo were awestruck.
One of the many characters in the parade dressed in fantastic uniform.
Another one of the Calgary Stampede floats/groups. They're really quite a site to see parading like that in this small mountain town.
Radium at last!. Here's Babcia in the hot tub of the hot springs on a hot day. In the background the rest of our entourage can be made out as well as the great scenery in the area. See more pictures from our summer here.
